Nicaragua is a country in central America, right between Costa Rica and Honduras, Pacific Ocean, and Caribbean Sea. Our country is most known for embracing travelers with stunning volcanic landscapes, Colonial architecture, spectacular beaches, and rich tropical life. yes, I know what you are thinking, this sounds like paradise, indeed!!
According to the tourism department of Nicaragua, in 2015, a total of 1,456,189 tourists visited this piece of heaven. Everything about this place will have you wanting more.
One of the most important cities is Masaya, (my beloved hometown) less than 30 minutes from the capital Managua. This city is known for its national artisans’ market. Almost everything you can find there is handmade by local artisans. These people have such skills to make beautiful pieces of art out of almost anything. They poured their creativity in every product. Most of them are the 5th or 6th generation of artisans, following the tradition. Their work is impeccable and so is their passion for it.
We created “our creations” with the purpose of promoting their products 100% handmade and become a solid source of income for them. Here, each entrepreneur and artisan has the chance to exhibit and sale their work outside their small town. Once this market is open for them, they can unleash all their potential on more amazing products. This give them confidence to improve their lives every day.
I decided to go with this idea because I always felt like I have a call to help others, growing up in an economically limited neighborhood, I understood better the value of hard and decent work. After 15 years living there, we moved out, I went to school and graduated from college, got a good job, moved on with my life. But, throughout the years, I’ve always gone back to the same neighborhood every year to distribute school supplies and other much needed things.
And here is where the idea of this project is born. Most of you are familiar with the old saying “if you give a man a fish, he’ll eat once, but if you teach him how to fish, he’ll eat for the rest of his life”. People don’t need free stuff, they need a job, a profession, an occupation that generates an income for their families, they need to feel valuable and useful. And for that, they need education. With a portion of the sales, we want to create an educational project in Nicaragua for kids. We want to help them find their vocation, inspire them to become something they will be have to be, and on the way, help them save their souls. Yes, we are Christians! And we want to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ as we help others to succeed in life.
Purchase with a purpose, our products are great quality, so you get an awesome product, we help small business to grow and to get out of poverty, and we all create a chain of blessings for others. It is the perfect formula!
